Fees and Terms

Our barristers most often charge fixed fees for private work in all areas of law (where clients are not eligible for legal aid). In certain circumstances our barristers may charge on an hourly rate instead.

For professional clients (Practising lawyers and Licensed Access clients), our barristers accept private work under the current version of the Standard Contractual Terms for the Supply of Legal Services.

For Public Access work, each individual piece of work will be subject to a standard client care letter and terms of work. Details of our typical fees for public access work can be found on our dedicated Public Access pages.

Our barristers will generally try to fulfil instructions as soon as possible, but the timescales for any individual case may vary depending on factors such as barristers’ availability, the type and complexity of the case, the other side’s approach and court waiting times.
